I died and went to design heaven : W Hotel vieques

Lucky me, I am tan, and have filled my mojito quota for 2011 already!  My family decided to take a vacation somewhere warm this year, so we all escaped our wintery homes (in NYC and Denver) to rendezvous in Puerto Rico.  We  stayed in a house within the grounds of the W Hotel on Vieques Island.  Patricia Urquiola, one of my absolute favorite designers, created the interiors for this hotel, and I was so excited upon arrival, that I immediately had to call fellow Urquiola fan, the infamous Megan Freckleton, to share the excitement with me.  We squealed like little girls as I jumped up and down in the lobby, while describing the utter deliciousness of the space. 

From the moment you enter the grounds of this hotel, you are surrounded by fabulous design.  There were so many pieces I was familiar with from photos, but to get to see them in person and so beautifully integrated within a space, was an experience I am truly grateful for.  

It was a shmorgasborg of beautiful objects; Autoban, B&B Italia, Moroso, Tom Dixon.  My life won't be complete now until I have my very own Tropicalia Day Bed in the back yard, or a Canasta will do too.
