At Maison et Objet, Paris from 23-27 January, Matthew Hilton will launch new products named after towns in Yorkshire, England. Otley Sofa, Overton Table, and Bretton Bed and Bedside reflect the rugged landscape of Yorkshire, a county of admirable beauty, and home to some of Hilton’s favourite modern sculptors. Robust materials including solid hardwood, anodised aluminium and rich textiles give shape to pared down, timeless furniture with a meticulous attention to detail.
The new products will be presented at Maison et Objet in a specially designed, understated 'home' with calming grey walls and Douglas Fir flooring. Sources of inspiration punctuate the space, from the designer's own photography, to books on art and architecture, and carefully chosen accessories. The setting is both easy to relate to and non-specific, allowing the furniture to be the focal point, and for visitors to understand the work in a personal context.
