At Maison et Objet, Paris from 23-27 January, Neri&Hu will launch four new products including Shaker dining table and dining chair, inspired by the simple, honest and utilitarian approach of the movement after which they are named; and the Frame collection consisting of a bed and sofa system which are supported by a clear wooden frame structure to which various accessories can be clipped, such as a tray or light.
Drawing on the design studio’s architectural expertise, the new products will be presented at Maison et Objet in a specially designed, compact ‘home’ environment. Timber is used in abundance for the flooring, walls, and the framework of a ‘domestic cage’ which contains the bedroom. The open structure of the cage creates voyeuristic interior experiences, blurring the line between the private and public spheres. Simultaneously, the domestic cage questions what it means to be free, provoking the idea of home as a refuge, but at the same time a cage for our possessions and living rituals.
